It’s simple. We sense the call of God upon our lives to go and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a child, I grew up in ministry, and never really stopped singing and ministering. It’s just always been what I’ve done, but, this is different. Deep down, my wife and I have had a sense of urgency compelling us to take steps of faith like never before, and God has been bringing us both to a place of total surrender, and dependence upon Him. Jesus Christ has rescued us, and changed our lives, and we want to spend the rest of our lives compelling others to come to the saving arms of Christ. A portion of scripture that was laid upon our hearts, as sort of a mission statement for our marriage, is Isaiah 58. These words are a beautiful picture of what it looks like to live out the Gospel of Jesus, and the reason we are following God into the ministry of evangelism.
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?… If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.”
To go out into all the world and share the Gospel of Christ through personal songs, and stories of God’s gracious love and delivering power.
That God would use us to edify the Body of Christ, awaken the lost, bring healing to the broken, and refresh the poor in spirit.
We are going on tour! That is the best place I know to begin. My family will be traveling the country, and wherever else God leads, to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ through song and testimony. As he opens doors for us to share, we will go. Churches, clubs, nursing homes, orphanages, and yes, even Africa. More than a series of concerts, with special songs for entertainment, this is an evangelical ministry. Preaching the Gospel is our call, so that’s what we will be doing.
We will pray. More than anything, and about everything. Pray that God will lead us to the right people, take us to the places where the gospel needs to be told, prepare hearts, and save souls wherever we go. It’s been said “Prayer is the real work, Evangelism is just the mopping up.”
We will trust God to provide through monthly support, and love-offerings. Our resources (CD’s, DVD’s, books, etc.) will be offered at a suggested price, but never with-held, and given freely to anyone who desires them. We will trust God to continue to supply the means by which the gospel is being proclaimed. With live concerts we will give others the opportunity to support our ministry through love-offerings, but never will anyone have to pay to hear the gospel, regardless of the means we use to tell it. We are also raising support as affiliate missionaries of New Mission Systems International. (More explanation below)
We will stay healthy and connected. We are so thankful to have the support and covering of our local church body, Eastgate Community Church. It is essential for our family that we stay healthy, by continuing to grow in deep and authentic relationships. No one can do it alone, and the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ is very meaningful and encouraging as we serve in evangelical ministry. Although our schedule will require us to be gone on some weekends as well, I will still lead worship there on a part-time basis.
